April 1940. Nazi Germany has invaded neutral Norway. A British brigade of mostly territorial troops has been sent south to halt the German advance. With much of their supplies and equipment sunk on the journey over, their chances of defying the Nazi war machine are slight. Amongst them is Sergeant Jack Tanner, an experienced soldier about to embark on the most dangerous mission of his life.
Sent into the mountains amidst the chaos of retreat, Tanner has only 14 men, no radio link and a hand drawn map of the area. He is soon completely cut off, no longer aware of the fate of the rest of his battalion. In the snow covered mountains of central Norway he meets three members of the Norwegian King's personal guards on a perilous mission of their own: for they are trying to protect a man the Germans desperately want - a man whose secret could change the course of the entire war; Hening Sandvold.
If information is power, Sandvold is liquid gold. Together they must ensure he evades the clutches of the Nazis and deliver him safely into the hands of the allies.
Joining forces with a French patrol of Chasseur Alpins, Tanner must use all his wits and skill, because as he soon discovers, the deadliest enemies can sometimes be those on your own side-Jack Tanner will do for the Second World War what Richard Sharpe did for the Napoleonic Wars.
Meticulously researched from an author 'from the first rank of contemporary historians' the Odin Mission introduces a fictional hero from the Second World War you can believe in. The Odin Mission is the opening novel in what will become an epic series of Jack Tanner books.
The Odin Mission is published by Corgi on 18th June 2009, RRP £6.99.
