Join the MT editor on our writers’ weekends
11/05/2009
“Brilliant”, “inspirational”, and “quite the most motivating workshop I’ve ever attended”. That’s just some of the lavish praise received after the 2008 writers' workshops.
And for 2009, the format will be even better. Rather than having weekends dedicated solely to beginners, improvers and those wanting to write their life, we’re having a long weekend - spread across three days - where there are different classes run on each day: that means you will have a full six hours of tuition in small classes tailored to your ability and what YOU want to do.
Not only that, but we will have informal evening sessions where you can socialise with everyone on all the courses and share your work, your knowledge and the authors that have inspired you.
All this in the setting of an historic hotel where there is great food, and plenty of time for you and your partner to explore local places of interest or enjoy the hotel’s superb health, fitness and beauty facilities - or simply relax in comfort.
“The only complaint from those taking part was that everyone would like more time,” says Tony, “so we’ve built that in. And we have also found that the supportive input of other writers provides a huge boost to people’s confidence. So there’s more of that too.
“It doesn’t matter whether you are nervous beginners or experienced and skilled writers – everyone gains confidence and makes progress on these courses. Many of my former pupils have now published the book they’ve always meant to write or are seeing their short stories and poetry published.
“Writing releases your creativity, opens your heart and mind and can act as a wellspring for other parts of your life. It’s emotional, exciting and very fulfilling.”
The courses are:
24 April Thoresby, Nottinghamshire
11 September Holme Lacy, Herefordshire
