Dive in for the British Red Cross!
13/08/2008
The British Red Cross are looking for people to dive in and take part in an open water one-mile swim challenge on Saturday 13th September at Lake Windermere. The event, the first of its kind in the UK, will include celebrities and elite swimmers - and you'll even get free nutrition and injury prevention advice.
The swim will start on land with a jump or dive into the water in smaller groups of swimmers based on age bands. Swimmers will then leave the water at approximately the halfway point for a run over the timing mats before re-entering again with a splash.
Senior Fundraiser Alexis Fairclough said: “This is a fantastic challenge event, with amazing scenery as well - so where better to spend the weekend?”
In exchange for a guaranteed place the organisers are asking each swimmer to pledge to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship (excluding gift aid) for the British Red Cross. A non-refundable registration fee of £25 is also required.
And as a Red Cross swimmer you will also receive:
- A free Red Cross T-shirt
- A comprehensive fundraising pack
- Contact with a local Red Cross fundraiser for advice and support
- Nutrition and injury prevention advice, and
- Online training guides
To enter call Alexis on 0151 702 5061/07921 872441 or Text SWIM to 07921 872441.
