The most honest age revealed

There is a direct correlation between lying and people’s age, according to a survey carried out by an online dating site called benaughty.com.

The Honesty Poll, which questioned over 1,000 adults, tracked the likelihood of people telling a lie against their age.  It identified

58 as the age where people are the least likely to tell tales and shows that people are at their most dishonest at 19 years of age.

The “lying gene” does not completely disappear; it simply lies dormant until people reach the age of 64.  This is the turning point when fibs about age and weight start to creep back in to conversations.

The five most common topics for people to lie about are personal debt (29%), drinking and smoking habits (28%), weight (24%), the number of previous sexual partners (14%) and age (13%).

A spokesman said: “The more comfortable people are about themselves, the less they feel the need to make up stories.  The younger generation could be more likely to fib because they feel insecure about their life, finances, weight and age.

“When starting or getting back into the dating game, it is worthwhile remembering that some of the most successful relationships are based on trust.”
