Support network reaches out to retired teachers
29/02/2008
The Teacher Support Network, a national charity which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of teachers, is reaching out to help those who are no longer in the classroom. Although the Network understands that retirement may bring changes in circumstances, they want to encourage retired teachers to take up new activities, learn new skills - and even join an adult education class.
Their Teacher Support Helpline can also provide help for questions across a range of areas - from travel concessions and disabilities to changes in personal relationships or bereavement. Coping without a regular income can also pose its own concerns, as well as navigating the maze of the benefits system.
So if you are a retired teacher and require practical or emotional support or further information, call 08000 562 561. Alternatively visit the website linked below for teacher-related news and a searchable database of more than 1,400 factsheets.
