My name is X and I am an alcoholic. I wrote in “Mature Times” last year about how I’d found Alcoholics Anonymous, and how through the 12 step programme of recovery my life was changing for the better.
I am now almost 12 months without a drink, thanks to this fellowship and its suggested means of getting better.

Like Greta Garbo you want to be alone, for a short while anyway. Avoid a hostile response to those who demand your attention as they could retaliate and spoil things.
It's your time to shine so get ready to party and catch up with friends for your birthday celebrations. You are popular and should dress to impress that new admirer.

You could be attracting a tiny bit of opposition during your campaign for control, use this as a challenge and opportunity to develop better diplomatic skills.

The clematis by my sheltered front door decided some time ago to sprout lively buds and leaves, ignoring the stubbornness of winter. A ray of sun at the back illuminates the garden and I feel suddenly elated, as if given a bunch of flowers by an unexpected lover. It is a fact that we are now in spring.
It must have been spring too when Emmanuel came into my life six or seven years ago. His letter in reply to my small ad had been the nicest, the most well-rounded: a business lawyer temporarily working in Birmingham, he was planning an eventual move to London, to Hampstead actually. An Ashkenazy Jew, he was evidently educated, adored music, the arts, and was an ‘avid reader’. The tone was self-assured without pomposity, there was simplicity and friendliness as well, which was attractive. He was fifty-four (to my nearly sixty), divorced, no children – ‘no baggage’.

It's your birthday time of year when celebrating brings friends near, romance and dreams beckon, and love is just around the corner for you.
You may need to keep some personal beliefs and opinions secret for now so you don't offend anyone, but you can't hide your true feelings forever.
