The Queen is not the only one celebrating a Diamond Jubilee Year! Age UK Plymouth – the new face of Plymouth Age Concern - is holding it's 60th Annual Skilled Hands Art and Craft Exhibition in June at the charity's Elspeth Sitters House Centre on the Barbican.

Anyone over the age of 50 is welcome to take part in the exhibition, provided their exhibit has been completed in the past twelve months.  With thirty different classes to choose from including needlecrafts, photography, beadwork and painting, there's plenty of scope for everyone.  Machine embroidery has been added to the list this year to encourage even more exhibitors.

As usual, the exhibition has a theme for those who might like to incorporate this into their work.  This year's theme is 'Special Events in 2012', which can include the Queens Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, or any special event personal to the exhibitor.  But following the theme is optional.

Exhibition Organiser, Chris Newham, said “This is not a professional show and the aim of the event is to give people the opportunity to show their work and encourage others to try something new or rekindle a former interest.  This annual event never fails to provide a wonderful display of work – and I'm sure the 60th show will be no exception”.

Exhibits can be entered either as a 'group/club' or as an 'individual', at a charge of just 50p per item.  All entries are judged and receive a certificate, with cups awarded to the best exhibits.

Apart from the wonderful displays of work, visitors to the exhibition will also be able to watch craft demonstrations and enjoy delicious home-made snacks and refreshments.

Details of how to enter the 60th Annual Skilled Hands Art and Craft Exhibition are available from any Age UK Plymouth centre (or telephone 01752 665424 or 256020). The exhibition will be open to the public 10.30am–4.00pm on Wednesday 13th Thursday 14th and Friday 15th June, and 10.30am–3.00pm on Saturday 16th June.  Admission £1.00
