With thanks to our reader - Peter Robins - for this comprehensive review of the Dyson Digital Slim DC35.
The assembly of the DC35 is very simple, The power unit is already assembled so all you need to do is attach the long reach wand this is simple as it is just one click, the same can be said of all the attachments a simple push one to click in to place and a single press of the clip to release, So just unpack from the box and your ready to go I found this a real winner...
Weight and ease of use
The DC35 power unit is light and compact as are the attachments making the unit as a whole very light and easy to hold and carry I have a disability which means I cannot lift anything heavy or hold items for a long time but I found the DC35 very easy to hold and carry, The power trigger is housed in the grip handle so is very easy to use and takes no effort to power up the machine there is also a power boost button on top of the grip that is in easy reach of your thumb for those stubborn spots, you are able to stop and start the machine as and when you like with no bending to find the switch, Even when the DC35 needs to be emptied it is no big task no bags or bending to remove the waste, no hoping it does not spill everywhere when you open it just detach the motor unit and hold over your rubbish bin and press the release button and the bottom flip open then when empty just click back in place it is that easy only take seconds to complete.
Charging and docking
Charging of the DC35 can be done in two ways you can attach to the docking station or charge freestanding both are simple. The docking station is ideal just mount near a plug socket it also holds all your attachments so everything is in one place and within easy reach, The battery takes three and a half hours to charge when flat, the charging unit cuts out when the DC35 is fully charged so no worries about overcharging or wasting electricity this is also a great safety feature. There are power lights to show when it is charging these turn off when fully charged.
The DC35 has three attachments, The first I tried was the powered brush head for floors this has a flexi ball joint that make cleaning the floor very easy it is so easy to change direction, The powered head make hovering simple removes pet hairs and raises the pile of your carpet, The crevice tool is great for hard to reach places like corners and top of curtains, The soft brush attachment is awesome for cleaning fabrics upholstery and gets those cobwebs with ease, it is a 2 in 1 tool as the soft brush slide back at the touch of a button and reveals a harder fabric brush for stubborn marks and stains. All the attachments can be used with the long wand or click right on to the power unit with the same one click action this gives you lots of cleaning options always a bonus. Once docked on the wall mounted station the unit and attachment take up almost no room at all a big plus over normal cleaners and you can place it at a height to suit your needs for access
Different Floors and Upholstery
The DC35 can be used on any type of floor covering without changing the powered head it gives the same power and suction on carpets and hard floors it gives incredible results throughout the whole house.
Upholstery cleaning with the DC35 is easy the powerful suction of the unit combined with the great attachments gives a powerful but gentle cleaning action that gives you superb results in minutes
The DC35 has many benefits for people with mobility problems, having the unit wall mounted within easy reach is a great option no bending to pull the cord out or attach the tools, As you move around the house there is no need to keep plugging the unit in so save your back there is also no cable to follow you around and trip over so you can go anywhere, Cleaning the stair was simple with the DC35 this is no longer a daunting task to disabled people, The unit is light weight and the battery has good life so no need to worry about charging all the time, Not having to drag a bulky Hoover around is great for me and am sure for other disabled users,
My Final Thoughts
I was very sceptical about the power and weight of a cordless vacuum cleaner before I tried the DC35, I must say it is a fantastic piece of kit well thought out and of course well made it is lightweight and easy to use, I found it great to use and would be more than happy to recommend the DC35 to anyone without reservation, All in all I think Dyson are on to a winner a must for any home.
My marks: 10 out of 10"
